Music : Classical : Other quality The Four Seasons is the most recorded classical piece in history with over 100 cd's currently available (Beethoven's 9th is the second most recorded). This recording by Karajan is quite a bit different to most of the rest - the trend in Baroque music for many decades past is to have small orchestras with "original" instruments, but Karajan has a large orchestra with modern instruments. It looks like the entire string section of the Berlin Philharmonic (a very big orchestra) were involved here. Many Baroque "purists" will dislike this recording for the reason mentioned above, but I enjoyed it immensely. This is Vivaldi with power, passion and romance - the summer thunderstorm really sounds like a storm instead of a mild shower.
